The College of Information Technology Participates in the “Tree Planting: A Step Toward a Sustainable University” Campaign 🌱
On the occasion of the National Afforestation Day, observed on March 12 each year, the University President and Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, inaugurated the campaign titled “Tree Planting: A Step Toward a Sustainable University” at the university campus.
His Excellency emphasized the importance of active participation in such environmental initiatives, which contribute to raising environmental awareness among students and staff, in alignment with the university’s direction toward supporting environmental sustainability and achieving the goals of Iraq Vision 2030.
A number of faculty members, employees, and students from the College of Information Technology took part in the campaign activities by planting trees across the campus, reflecting the spirit of social responsibility among the college community and their commitment to supporting initiatives that improve the university environment.
The campaign also included awareness activities highlighting the importance of afforestation, its role in mitigating climate change, improving air quality, and promoting public health.
This initiative comes as part of the national efforts adopted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in conjunction with the National Afforestation Day, as well as within the framework of the Five Million Trees and Palm Trees Initiative launched by Prime Minister Engineer Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani to combat desertification and expand green spaces in Iraq. 🌳
